Michael Meakins Brooklands— Crackleport here— In an effort to bring you the latest up to date news of the various projects which are on going around the country I have to use a variety of methods (however devious) in my quest, and keep my ear firmly on the ground at all times. When I heard that John Ward (our very own Webmaster) was in possession of a CD which should at some point in the near future be uploaded for all to enjoy on the website I was immediately in touch with him . You can guess the rest…. In no time at all I too had a copy. It was a detailed account of Michaels build from donor strip to progress so far. Michaels Update– Something I had not fully appreciated was how much extra work there is going the BMW route rather than the 2CV. I’ve just attached the carbs to the engine (despite the space frame) - a sequence not dissimilar to keyhole surgery. At the other end of the car, I was unhappy with the available space between the spare wheel and the uppermost frame hoop to fit the fuel pipe and filler (without knocking nine bells out of the rear bulkhead.
Extending the spare wheel carrier 60mm and remaking the rear lower panels to suit has made the task easier. Whilst in that area the next thing is to close off the under tail with a lower bulkhead just after the fuel tank (Similar to David Stephensons car—See
