PAG 25, page 5

Sunday morning—the day of the Uxbridge Auto Show and we are up and out of bed with the larks. Picnic made and all bags packed in the car and we are ready to leave by 5.45. Journey planned—South Wales to Uxbridge.
We head for the M4 and over the Severn Bridge, there isn’t much traffic on the road at this time of morning so we make good time, as the miles tick by the traffic starts to build up and we are getting waves and toots from passing cars, photo’s taken from passing coaches, it’s nice to be noticed.
We arrive at Uxbridge Show Ground at 8.50. South Wales to the outskirts of London on 3.05 hours, not bad. Well done that car !!! When we find the club stand there are two cars there already. Yes Ian…. We did have a coffee first and then it was off to find the bacon butties which after 3 hours driving were very welcome.
Getting back to the club stand and more cars turn up, as the morning progresses even more cars turn up and Dave moves the peg to make the stand bigger. Yes we know we shouldn’t have but we did end up with a FANTASTIC SHOW of cars.
After a walk around the show most of us met up for the famous Pembleton picnic and chat. The conversation soon got around to how do we get the spare parts from the 2CV parked in front of us. More chatting and laughter before we collect the shows plagues and hand them around to all who attended. Just time for a final walk around the show before saying our goodbyes and heading for home.
The weather was brilliant all day, the company was great and the show of cars was as I said fantastic.
As we get to the M4 heading for the M25 we decide its too hot for hats and coats so off they come and we travel back all the way to South Wales in comfort. We arrive back home just before 7.00 in the evening, a little tired but happy. The car was running like a baby, she could have kept going all night.
We had a great day out and I’d like to say THANK YOU to every one who came and helped fill the club stand. It was nice to see you all. Hopefully we will meet again at next years show and have even more cars turn up.
Keep Pembling you barmy lot
