Letters to the Editor Hi Ian—thanks for the mail. Unfortunately work commitments preclude me from taking on a build, maybe one day, so I have bought a ready built Brooklands. Literally just this week. I am looking forward to tinkering, personalising, taking her out and maybe meeting a few of you guys. Can’t wait for the weekend !!! By the way, have you got a feel for how many Pembies there are out there ? Cheers Ralph Colombo Don’t know the exact number of cars out there at the moment, (which is rather embarrassing) but I’ll make it my business to find out for the next edition.—Ian. Hello—My name is Jeffery Hamilton. I live in Canada approx 90 miles west of Toronto. A week or two ago I read a review about the Pembleton ‘Brooklands’ I think it is one of the nicest looking kit cars I’ve ever seen, regardless of price. For that matter the Grasshopper Super Sport is a great machine also. Searching the web I found John’s Pembleton site and had a thoroughly good read. I’ve also read all the postings on the forum enjoying them also. There are some excellent tips posted there. I would like to post since I’ve lots of questions but I don’t want to waste anyones time when I’m only in the dreaming stage. I would appreciate it very much if you could email a copy of your newsletter to me. In fact if you have them on file i.e. scanned them I would enjoy very much reading them all. I would have to do some homework and investigate if it is possible for me to import this kit to Canada. The P.A.G. office duly replied to Jeffery with a promise to post a set of newsletters asap. Also informing him that there was already a Pembleton in Canada Thank you very much for your quick reply. I would like to contact the owner of the Grasshopper SS. I’m sure he can give me tons of advice regarding importing and so forth. It would be great to receive copies of all the Pembleton newsletters. If you let me know how much postage is likely to be I will send you a postal money order either in pounds sterling or Euro, your choice. I insist. I truly appreciate what you’ve done for a stranger from a strange land. Jeff Hamilton email bberesford@cogeco.ca Dear Ian, I think I have very very good news about the way to register a Pembleton in France. Recently I have seen the website of FFVE. The FFVE is a French federation working with the Government and is in charge to try and help you to register your car, but only 25 years old cars. For example if you buy a car in another country of Europe and this vehicule is not legal in France, you ask the FFVE to give you a document to register it with a special registration wich include some restrictions about the area you can drive in, but its not a big problem. With them its not important to know if the car is legal or not, you can register in all conditions !!!! I have two questions for you, because there are two things very important concerning the documents of your Pembleton. 1)Wath is the trade of the vehicule on the document you have after the inspection ? Citroen or Pembleton (its not very important) 2) I have to build a Pembleton from parts coming from a 25 year old or more 2CV. Its absolutely necessary. The document of your Pembleton is giving the year of construction of the original car or the year of construction of the kit ? If it’s the first everything is ok to dive in France with the help of the FFVE. Because it’s the only condition of them, like I told you. After this I just find someone in England to register my car and then sell it to me (on the paper of course) To register a Pembleton are you using the documents of the 2CV (with frame number and engine numbers) or is the technical Inspector delivering you new documents, independent of the original car ? (I remember the first time I wrote to you, you were telling me it was possible I think…) If you can answer to all my questions it will be fantastic. From a lot of people in France were telling me about the easy way to register a kit car I think now I am near the truth. Thank you a lot for the newsletters you send to me. Its relly fun to discover Pembleton owners I hope I will be a Pembleton driver, and believe me I have a lot of ideas for my future Vehicule . Just one ultimate thing, I have seen in Autumn 2003 issue, a Belgian who wants to register a hopper or brooklands in France. You can give him my email and I will talk with him on the situation. Thanks a lot Damien Why not send Damian an email and let him know your registration stories, or at least wish him luck !!! it will help him in his quest to own a hopper in France He can be mailed on- docteurzahius@9online.fr Keep us up to date on progress Damian - Ian
