No.29 proudly languishing in the West Midlands Sunshine Its Mick Thompson owner of car number 29, just letting you know that it is now legal and on the road.  Its maiden voyage was a 50 mile round trip to the DVLA centre at Worcester. All went well on a bright sunny day. I took delivery of the kit in Sept 2001, so the build has been quite slow compared to some. The donor car was given to me as far back as 1997, which at the time was stripped and stored (in various places) but by the time came to collect them all, a few pieces had gone missing. On reflection it might have been better to buy a new donor. The only change from the kit instructions was to use 1.5 mm aluminium on the rear top to strengthen the area where people lever themselves in and out.  Engine and running gear are from a 1981 X reg. model with a disc brake gearbox fitted. The dashboard is flat with an open glovebox. Seats are tan leather from a Jaguar rear seat, leftover material was used to cover the dashboard. It has a home made wood rim steering wheel made from oak and aluminium. I splashed out on some period style rear lights, that incorporate rear, flasher and number plate lamps. Anyway by February 2002 an MOT and weighbridge were booked on the same day. The MOT went well with the tester commenting that the Pembleton compared favourable against the Lomax's he had seen. (I live about 2 miles from the Lomax factory). A date was booked for the 6th March at Worcester DVLA, again no problems and so road legal. Now it is in use ,gradual improvements are under way. First an aluminium backing for the front number plate, then lining out the boot area with rubber matting. A winter project of lapping the barrels, grinding valve seats, painting the barrels black and the heads aluminium, and maybe a set of braided oil hoses. Its Friday night, I'm looking out of the window at the wind and rain. It doesn't look good for Stoneleigh. Keep up the good work. I love the look of the steering wheel, could you make me one?: Algernon
