Letters to the Editor Hi Ian - Thanks for the newsletter, I particularly enjoyed Crackleports cogitation - but - 87mph- we're getting into the realms of exploding engines methinks. However it would be nice to do that speed even for a short burst. The 'Day in the Dales' looks quite exciting, we're looking forward to that - should be quite an expedition from this end of the country. Cheers Ian - Regarding the website I think Glyn has done a terrific job and deserves our support. The C.S.C. forum took some time to get going - the members had to be pushed along with reminders in 'Flat Out' as you know. I was offered a 2CV6 F.O.C. for spares just before Xmas. When I collected it, although it was a little dilapidated, it turned out to have a custom built 4" x 2" chassis and everything worked. I had so many spares in the garage I decided to do it up. It's now back on the road and a great pleasure to drive. (Sort of 'spares in use') Will you be going to the Stafford show on the 9th-10th March ? Our local chapter always go it would be good to have a natter) Enough blatter for now. Keep in touch Hi Ian - I picked up my kit from Phil Gregory three weeks ago. (No41) To get my donor parts I had to buy two 2CV's. Both cars are now stripped down and I have a spare set of parts for sale. There is no bodywork to dispose of, all the bits are there and ready to pick up by anyone who might want them. I have not seen the engine running but the guy I bought it from said it had been running but the clutch was seized ? Keep up the good work Ian I enjoyed the last newsletter. Sounds like Graham's donor parts could save someone a lot of time and effort. See ad below - Ed Hello Ian - Dave, Liz and Kirsty here. Hope you had a brill xmas. Been out in the car recently (not me - Mum and Dad) and Mum managed to eat a fresh sausage roll while driving along. Aparantly it was quite an experience !!!!. Hoping to do a special run shortly weather permitting. Let you know what happens and if it was a success. Have a good new year. Keep off the John Smiths ! Ian - As I am at the 'sketching on the back of an envelope stage' a couple of things have occurred to me….. Oil cooler - this does seem to be a little exposed to possible damage, from small boys or more likely flying grit or foreign bodies, has anyone tried to move this back to behind the engine - say under the copper 'radiator' shell. I would think this would be quite simple to do ? Alternator - also a bit exposed, yes I know Phil has driven through floods with his - but perhaps this could be moved, perhaps driven from a driveshaft. I had an alternator driven off the propshaft on one of my vintage cars. No charge until 15 mph or so - but actually no problem at all. All this would leave the engine exposed superbly. A couple of super points for discussion. Has anyone any thoughts ? I'll forward the replies to Mike and include them in the next newsletter - Ed Hello Ian - Glad the tip is of use. As concerns progress: I just thought I'd mention that I'm not quite as far on as the build manual would indicate - I've been focussing much more on the back than the front so that during the term, the ex-professional upholsterer that I know as Dad can begin work on the seats. Hence all the brakes, the fuel tank and the rear bodywork are done but not the dash, gear lever or front side panels. I'll be using G.S. dials on a straight grain walnut dash, and I made a slightly enlarged glove box (extending where the gear lever goes - I'm dropping the lever beneath the dash) That’s about it until Easter now, good luck with the newsletter Yours Overseas visitor -For those not able to access the Pembleton website forum you will be interested to learn that we have had a visitor from the U.S.A.. Brian Brothers left a message saying how much he enjoyed the site and looking at the cars.
